Database Programming with Java

From SwinBrain

There are several different ways of doing database programming with Java. The basis of all of these approaches starts with JDBC, the Java Database Connectivity interfaces. These provide Java programs with access to databases of different types.

An alternative approach, popular with Java developers, is to use an object relational mapping tool, ORM, that maps data from the database directly to Java objects. The most common ORM tool for Java is Hibernate.
